Meet Simon

Simon Cataldo proudly serves as the State Representative for the 14th Middlesex District, where he was raised. As a husband, father of four, and lifelong resident of Concord, Simon is committed to good government through effective constituent service, a legislative agenda rooted in district values, and collaborative, results-driven leadership on Beacon Hill.

Raised in West Concord, Simon is the son of a social worker and an economist. He attended Thoreau Elementary School, Peabody Middle School, and Concord-Carlisle High School. These experiences gave Simon a deep appreciation for the power of education, a love for his community, and a lifelong commitment to public service. Today, Simon and his wife, Chessie, are raising their four children in Concord, where they aim to inspire the same values in the next generation.

Growing Up in Concord

Pursuing his interests in science and the environment, Simon graduated from Colorado College with a degree in environmental science, where he wrote his senior thesis on the thermodynamics of residential energy. After graduation, Simon began his career as a special education math teacher through Teach for America, quickly identifying the need for innovative approaches to support his students. By combining academics and athletics, he empowered his students to achieve unprecedented academic success. His commitment to educational opportunity led him to found Harlem Lacrosse, a nonprofit organization that now serves over 1,300 at-risk students across five cities. Under Simon’s leadership, Harlem Lacrosse has secured over $60 million in academic scholarships and continues to transform lives by providing year-round academic support, tutoring, and mentorship.

An Educator and Advocate

After graduating from the University of Virginia School of Law, Simon clerked for a federal judge and joined the U.S. Department of Justice's Public Integrity Section.

As a federal prosecutor, Simon held public officials accountable, tackling corruption at the highest levels. He investigated and prosecuted cases involving a judge, a sheriff, a state party, and others with an unflinching and nonpartisan approach to his work. In this manner, Simon helped restore trust in government and demonstrated his dedication to justice and fairness.

A Champion for Integrity

On Beacon Hill, Simon champions policies that promote economic opportunity, educational quality for all students, environmental conservation, and public safety. He approaches each challenge with a collaborative spirit, working tirelessly to ensure that the voices of all residents are heard and respected. He favors thoughtful action over the virtue signaling that often dominates politics.

In the community, Simon is an active participant in local events and initiatives. He believes that politicians should actively meet constituents where they are, and seek creative ways to learn what’s most important to them. That’s why you’ll see Simon at the local Senior Center, the 4th of July Parade, and coaching on the Little League field.
